When: Daily

Colosseum Gym is proud to announce the return of Newark Beth Israel Medical Center’s “The Beth Challenge”.  The Beth Challenge is a 12 week wellness program that fosters lifestyle changes through nutrition education, exercise and support.  For the 2010 Challenge, 100 contestants from Philemon Baptist Church competed against 150 contestants from Clear View Baptist Church, both of Newark.  At the end of the 12 week program, the two congregations had lost an astounding total of 903 pounds.  This year, Colosseum Gym, which is partnered with NBIMC and The Children’s Hospital of New Jersey, hopes to help contestants exceed that total.

For 2011’s The Beth Challenge, contestants will again come from Clear View but will compete against members of Newark’s Colosseum Gym to see which group has what it takes to win the weight loss challenge.  Contestants are able to enter as individuals, families or teams and compete for the largest percentage of weight lost for the best prize of all – getting healthy and fit!

The kick-off for The Beth Challenge will be held at noon on Friday, January 28, 2011 at City Hall in Newark.  Initial weigh-ins start the week of January 30, 2011.  Colosseum Gym is located at 525 Irvington Avenue in Newark, directly behind Seton Hall University on the border of South Orange and Maplewood.
