When: January 9, 2012
Time: 10:00 am–12:00 pm

2012 will be a year in which the political campaigns for the office of President of the United States will dominate our news coverage.  However, for those in job search or career change there will be a far more important campaign in their life—their JOB SEARCH CAMPAIGN.  Come join Maplewood/South Orange admin committee member and Five O'Clock Club Certified Career Coach, Tony Calabrese, as he leads the group in a discussion on “Steps for Building Your Job Search Campaign in 2012.”  In this interactive discussion, Tony will share some of the strategies he has learned from his Five O'Clock Club teachings and which participants may want to choose to incorporate as they take on their searches in 2012.

The session will be this Monday, January 9, 2012 beginning at 10 A.M. at the Maplewood Library, and of course we’ll have open networking too.

When: Weekly on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays
Time: 10:30 pm– 4:30 pm

The Walsh Gallery is pleased to present “Crossroads:  A Shifting Landscape” a multi-media group exhibition of contemporary landscape art curated by Jesse Gordon and Emily Ozga.  The included artists address contemporary innovations in the landscape genre visually, thematically and through the use of alternative media.  Artwork included in the exhibition also emphasizes the changing role of landscape art in the present day as a platform for socio- political discourse as opposed to a verisimilitude of the natural world.   The curators developed this exhibition as a response to the traditional objectives of the genre, demonstrating contemporary concerns about the world we inhabit.

Featured artists include Louise Barry, Carol Chave, Travis Childers, Raquel A. Foote, Richard Gilles, Mikhail Gubin, William Hudders, Nina Jordan, Suzy Kopf, Jeremy Rosenstein Kortes, Franck Lesbros, Susan Maakestad, Jason Meyer, Bruce Pollock, Daniel Rosenbaum, Patrick Seufert, Susan Shaw, Rachel Sitkin, Ryan Thompson, Kati Vilim, Joe Waks and Sook Yoo.  The selected artists include an international group, as well as artists from the New York/New Jersey metropolitan area. An exhibition catalogue with an essay by the curators will be available at the Walsh Gallery.

Established in 1981, Barnabas Health Hospice and Palliative Care Center provides comprehensive physical, emotional and spiritual care and support services for patients with advanced illness and their families throughout ten counties in the State of New Jersey. The program, which serves infants, children, adults and the elderly, honors the unique choices and values of patients and their families while offering full access to the broad array of services provided by Barnabas Health.

“In as few as three hours a week, volunteers can make a tremendous difference in the life of a patient coping with advanced illness,” explains Ballas.  “Volunteers can read to patients, hold their hand, or just spend time with them while their loved ones take a breather.  They are also a resource to families, typically helping by listening to their thoughts and concerns or assisting them with small tasks.  When you volunteer for hospice you get back as much as you give.”
