When: April 1, 2012 / April 4, 2012 / April 5, 2012 / April 6, 2012 / April 7, 2012 / April 8, 2012

St. George's Episcopal Church will celebrate Holy Week with the following:

Sunday, April 1:

Palm Sunday -Three services 8, 9:15 and 10:15 a.m., with a four-legged guest at the 9:15 a.m. Family Service

    Wednesday, April 4:

A Tenebrae Service will be held at 8 p.m. on Wednesday of Holy Week. "Tenebrae" is a Latin term meaning "shadows." The Tenebrae service is a powerful collection of psalms and readings marking the themes of despair and darkness just before Jesus' ultimate victory over death.

        Thursday, April 5:

A Choral Eucharist & Liturgy of Maundy Thursday will be held at 8 p.m.. This commemoration of the Last Supper includes the re-enactment of Jesus' washing the disciples' feet as a sign of service and humility, and ends with the stripping of the altar creating the austere atmosphere for Good Friday.

An all-night vigil in the church begins immediately after the service, ending with Morning Prayer at 7 a.m. Friday.

          Friday, April 6:

This most solemn day of the Christian year is observed with a 4 p.m. Children's Service designed to help them understand the crucifixion through the Stations of the Cross, and at the 8 p.m. Choral Liturgy of Good Friday, which includes Veneration of the Cross, and Communion from reserve Sacrament.

            Saturday, April 7:

The Great Vigil of Easter, beginning with the blessing of the Paschal Fire in front of the church doors at 8 p.m., is the most ancient form of Easter worship proclaiming Jesus' resurrection.  Through lessons recalling salvation history and the joyous ringing of bells leading to the celebration of the resurrection and the Eucharist, the Great Vigil of Easter ushers in the triumphal feast day of Easter. Everyone is invited to bring small bells to ring!

              Sunday, April 8:

Easter Sunday -Three services provide a variety of joyful worship experiences for all St. Georgians and all who wish to join us, capturing the joy of this wonderful day.

A service of Holy Eucharist will be held at 8 a.m.

At the Family Eucharist we will meet in front of the main doors of the church at 9 a.m. sharp for the "Search for Jesus." We will interview a Roman centurion at the cross, and visit the tomb where Jesus was buried.

The service is designed for younger children and will incorporate a simple Eucharist, along with Easter music and a children's homily. An Egg Hunt will follow, outdoors if possible or indoors in case of inclement weather. All are welcome and urged to invite friends!

The 10:30 a.m. Choral Festival Eucharist features the Choir of St. George's and the Saint George Singers children's choir, joined by organ and instruments. Everyone is invited to bring small bells to ring!

At St. George's it is a tradition that at the conclusion of the Easter service, members of the congregation are invited to come up and join the choir in singing Handel's Hallelujah Chorus. Musical scores will be provided.

Our celebration of Easter will conclude with an elegant reception in the parish hall.

Do you want to feel 100% secure from the inside out? See how quick and easy that can be…

How much more successful would you be in your career if your negative voices disappeared?

Want to be a BOLD, FABULOUS FEMALE? Set yourself apart by gaining more confidence than you ever thought possible!

Believe it or not, without self-confidence you reduce your ability to have a successful life (as YOU define it). You sacrifice achievement within yourself, your career, your relationships, your health, and your wealth. To top it all off, having low self-confidence robs you of your joy, joy that you deserve!

In fact, self-confidence is MORE important than the skills and knowledge that you have. Why? Because it sets you apart. When you believe in yourself and are confident in your abilities, you become a natural leader.

Having confidence, others will feel drawn to you and reassured by you. How great will that feel? They also trust you, your judgment and will follow your lead. Wouldn’t it be nice to be the inspiring woman?

Self-confidence enables you to BE BOLD, take healthy risks, stretch, grow, and achieve new levels of success. Without enough self-confidence, you run the risk of living a mediocre life — too afraid to move out of your comfort zone and go for what you really want.

Do you feel like you’re stuck in a rut?

Do you wish that you could have more overall success in your life, your relationships, your health, and your overall wealth?

Are you feeling overwhelmed and not keeping up with your life?

Has it been a while since you’ve had a good laugh?

If you answered “Yes” to any of these questions, then it’s time to infuse your self-confidence with laughter and love! It’s time to get BoldHer!

The schedule of events for Holy Week:

                Palm Sunday
On April 1st at 10:30 a.m. we will celebrate Palm Sunday in worship with the distribution of palms and special music offered by the chancel choir.  Pastor Chris will preach a special message, "Renew our Hope,"exploring the Palm Sunday story and a current take on where we invest our hope.

                Maundy Thursday - Seder/Garden Service
The Jewish Seder is a special family meal held on the first evening of Passover, recounting the Israelites’ journey to freedom from slavery in Egypt.  On this night, our seder experience will provide the context for Jesus’ last supper with his disciples before he was betrayed and handed over to Roman authorities. Join us on Thursday, April 5th, as we share in a family seder meal, celebrate communion and conclude our time in the chapel garden, marking Jesus’ time spent in the Garden of Gethsemane. Service to follow at 8 p.m.

Good Friday - Service of the Tenebrae
Tenebrae is Latin for shadow, or darkness and refers to a traditional Good Friday service where lights are extinguished as the story of Jesus' arrest, trial and crucifixion are read.  We will hold a service of Tenebrae, Friday, April 6th at 8 p.m., which will conclude in the Morrow Church tradition of nailing prayers of confession to the cross.

                Easter Sunday
Celebrate the Risen Christ with us on Easter Sunday, April 8th, at 10:30 a.m.  Our worship service will feature our expanded chancel choir, A-Pealing Bells, and brass.  Rev. Chris Heckert will offer his final sermon in his Lenten sermon series, “Renew,” entitled “Renew our Life”, lifting up the promise of renewed life that the Easter holds for each of us.

During a career that stretches back to the mid-’80s, Matthew Sweet has never followed trends, though his landmark 1991 album Girlfriend was responsible for starting one—its bone-dry, caterwauling sonics opening up a wild and picturesque new terrain for restless singer/songwriters to inhabit and explore. Two decades later, Sweet has once again swung for the fences—and connected—with the boldly experimental yet still deeply personal “Modern Art”.
