Unique Photo Expo - Demos and Free Classes

The largest photography event ever held in New Jersey will provide photo enthusiasts from beginners to professionals with the opportunity to demo and purchase new products and take free classes with some of the world’s top photographers.  Unique Photo, the largest camera store in the state, will hold a free, open to the public four-day consumer expo Thursday, June 21 through Sunday, June 24 at the Unique Photo superstore at 123 Route 46 West in Fairfield, NJ.  

Consumers will have the opportunity to sample and purchase the latest products at steep discounts through Expo-only “Show Specials” from dozens of industry leading manufacturers on-site.  They will also be able to learn from some of the world’s top photographers, with classes offered in D-SLR photography, lighting, posing, shooting, and post-production including Photoshop.  “We wanted to create an exciting event where any photographer, regardless of their ability level, could have the opportunity to try out the best equipment and learn from some of the world’s best photographers,” said Unique Photo President Matt Sweetwood.  “The public has never had the opportunity to attend a free event like this before.  As the center for photography in the state, we want to make photography both enjoyable and affordable.”    

During the Unique Photo Expo, attendees will be able to demo the latest and best photographic gear with hands-on demonstrations from manufacturers’ representatives; receive specials and discounts from numerous vendors; attend instructional seminars and workshops to improve their photography skills; and shop and take advantage of “Show only” sales.  Among the photographers scheduled to appear are internationally known, award-winning wedding photographer Hanson Fong, Saturday Night Live videographer Alex Buono, Jay Dickman, Lindsay Adler, Erik Valind, Will Crockett, Ken Hubbard and David Piazza.  

Manufacturers scheduled to attend include Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Tamron, Sigma, Manfrotto, Sony, Panasonic, Leica, Lexar, Epson, Samsung, and Fujifilm.   Attendees will also have the opportunity to explore and experience photography excursions to the New Jersey Botanical Gardens, to film the Manhattan skyline, the Great Falls in Paterson, the Meadowlands Racetrack, and the Bergen County Zoo.   Admission to the Unique Photo Expo is free.

Most classes will be offered free of charge through the store’s Unique University, the largest center for photography education in New Jersey, a savings of $100-$500 per class.  Some classes may be offered at $20.00 with those attendees receiving a Unique Photo store gift card.   The store will also host a buy-back program where attendees can get their old camera equipment appraised for trade-in and receive cash or a Unique Photo store credit with a 10% bonus on the evaluation.  Registration to the Unique Photo Expo is required.  To learn more or to register, visit www.uniquephotoexpo.com.

Buckley, a retired N.J. Deputy Attorney General, is the prosecutor who finally put Reldan away for life, after two prior prosecutions had failed, including one in which Reldan leapt out of a third-story courthouse window to effect an escape.

The festive evening will reflect Cantor’s lifelong passion for music that lifts the spirits and will include a performance by his son Noah Aronson, a celebrated musician and composer. Cantor’s love for the food and wine of the Mediterranean will be on display in the evening’s sumptuous menu prepared by Diana Hart Fine Catering, and guests will be inspired to dance by the tunes of The Continentals Orchestra. TSTI member Russell Kaplan is serving as the celebration’s Creative Director.

Veggiecation Program: June Culinary Classes for Kids

Lisa Suriano, founder and creator of the Veggiecation Program, and Whole Foods Market at select locations are keeping kids busy this summer with kids’ culinary classes.  Using fresh summer fruits and veggies, kids will prepare Spinach and Orange Salad with Honey Vinaigrette and Black Bean Dip. As practiced in participating classrooms throughout the country, kids will be invited to help prepare Veggiecation Program’s recipes, sample Veggiecation Program’s culinary creations, experience vegetables in their raw form and cast a vote on how they liked the recipes in the Veggiecation Ballot Boxes.  Kids will take home complimentary Veggiecation character coloring pages, word games, mazes and stickers.  Parents will receive a copy of Veggiecation Program's recipes created that day.

A curriculum based nutrition education concept, Veggiecation Program’s success with kids lies in the engaging activities that empower children with their food choices while demonstrating that eating vegetables is fun and delicious.

Veggiecation Program cooking classes at Whole Foods Market are free and open to the public.  Preregistration for cooking classes at Whole Foods Market is required as seating is limited.

Friday, June 8th

Festivities kick-off Friday with a concert in Peter Francisco Park by popular Portuguese Folklore singer, Quim Barreiros at 9:30pm. 

Saturday, June 9th:

You will find a Sidewalk Sale by Ferry Street businesses. 
From 12pm-11pm – you will find local DJ’s, dance groups and performances at the Peter Francisco Park stage. 
At 3pm they will transmitted on a large screen – the Portugal vs. Alemanha game, part of the European Championship Tournament Cup. 

Sunday, June 10th:

Sunday morning there will races for adults and children. A 5k race starts at 9am from the Iberia Restaurant Parking Lot ($20 registration day of race) – winners get a mountain bike. You can find the registration form here
There are also Kiddie dash starting at 9:45am for children 8 and under. All participants will receive medals. 
The official Parade starts on Ferry Street at 3pm but there will be performance all day from 12-9pm on the Peter Francisco Park stage.
