Lore Ross Cafe Europa: Holocaust Survivor Friendship Society, meets at Oheb Shalom Congregation, 170 Scotland Road, South Orange, NJ.

Camp sessions are available for Forest Explorers – Kindergarten to 1st grade from 9 a.m. to 12 Noon – and Wildlife Adventurers – 2nd to 3rd grade from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Cost is $75 per child for all three days or $30 per child per day. It's been an amazing experience since a handful of us came to Mountainside in Union County to start a church from scratch, and we'd love to celebrate the birth of our Saviour with you here on Christmas Eve!
Spend New Year's Eve at the dharma center! The evening will start with a public talk, titled "Satisfaction -Can't get no!", followed by a party with non-alcoholic beverages and food, and finally a Liberation from Sorrow puja (chanted meditation).
Expectations run high during the holiday season. Family gatherings and relationships can be filled with stress and disappointments. We find ourselves thinking "because it is the holiday season, things should be different, special, even perfect." Buddhist meditation helps us tap into the source of peace within.
Tormas are decorative figures, traditionally made of barley flour and butter, used as special food offerings for Sutric or Tantric rituals. They are made in specific shapes, usually conical, based on their purpose. Tormas can be placed on shrines for ceremonies such as empowerments, chanted prayers, or to represent particular deities or Dharma protectors. Others are made to receive attainments or to remove obstacles. Tormas are a creative expression of gratitude for receiving dharma and allow the creator to make a magical connection with enlightened beings. In this 2-hour hands-on workshop, we will use Marzipan (almond paste) to make empowering, offering, and obstacle dispelling tormas There are only 12 openings for this workshop.
