"Local Color Weekend" Plein Air Paint Out to be
Hosted at Bucks County Gallery of Fine Art

July 19, 2012 (NEW HOPE, PA) – The Artists Are Coming, The Artists Are Coming! - July 26th - 29th will be the first ever Plein Air Paint Out Weekend in Bucks County PA. history.

A never before hosted in Bucks County art event - Local Color is an extended weekend Plein Air, (meaning in the open air) event being hosted by gallery owner Howard Cooperman at the Bucks County Gallery of Fine Art located in New Hope PA.

Gallery owner Howard Cooperman said "that he was inspired by the Easton Plein Air Festival when he attended last year. The entire community, both businesses and
residents were involved. It was so captivating, I had to begin a similar event in Bucks County because of our art rich history and wealth of wonderful painters".

The exhibition is an invitational, meaning that the artists were selected from a handpicked group of nationally
acclaimed plein air painters by gallery owner Howard Cooperman, that travel the country to participate in this type of event.

Larry Chestnut, John Ennis, Peter Hunt, Ty Hodanish, Jo-Ann Osnoe, Rae O'Shea, Yelena Snovsky, and Anne Kullaf, (all locals to PA & NJ) are amongst 30 artists that are from across the United States to participate in the four day event.

The schedule of events include:

Thursday July 26 - 8:00am - 6:00pm the
artists arrive and begin to paint landscapes, architecture, river/canal scenes in New Hope. They will be painting Thursday, Friday, & Saturday

Friday July 27 - 8:00am - 6:00pm the artists continue painting our town.

Saturday July 28 - 1-3pm "Quick Draw" painting contest at the Parry Mansion Museum located at the corners of Main & W. Ferry Streets. Watch as the artists engage in a fierce competition to finish a painting on the historic property in two hours. Immediately following, the artwork will be carried to the Bucks County Gallery Located at 77 W. Bridge Street for judging and a "wet paint sale". If
you fall in love with a painting as it is being created, you are welcome to ask one of the gallery associates to assist in purchasing it on the spot.

Saturday July 28 - 5-7pm a Preview Party and Cocktail Reception with the artists will be hosted at Bucks County Gallery. Guests will have the opportunity to pre purchase freshly painted artwork prior to the general public
reception. Tickets are $20.pp and are still available by calling Howard at 215.862.5272.

FEATURING GREGG BENDIAN'S MAHAVISHNU PROJECT &

EDDY'S CHEMISTRY SET: THE MUSIC OF FRANK ZAPPA BY ED PALERMO'S LITTLE BIG BAND

Swing by the last weekend in July to celebrate the passion, energy, and virtuosity of fusion’s most celebrated composers as Luna Stage opens its doors to electric jazz and big band rock.  Fans of arena rock, bebop, big bands and jam bands are all welcome to join some of New York’s busiest studio musicians, composers, and teachers for two days of futuristic nostalgia- and bring the kids for a sneak peek behind the music!

Our festival kicks off Saturday at 3 PM with SHORT FUSE- a free children’s workshop with internationally acclaimed percussionist and educator Gregg Bendian (Cecil Taylor, Pat Metheny, Ornette Coleman, William Paterson, Yale) designed to educate, entertain, and inspire.

At 8 PM, The Mahavishnu Project electrifies the night as Gregg Bendian is joined by guitarist Jesse Gress, keyboardist Neil Alexander, and bassist Doug Lunn.  The Mahavishnu Project reinterprets classic compositions from Jeff Beck, Billy Cobham, John McLaughlin, and Jan Hammer, while seamlessly meshing the beauty of their intricate charts with their own imaginative proficiency.

On Sunday, July 29th at 3 PM, The Luna Fusion Fest resumes with SOUNDS LIKE FUN- a free recording and production seminar hosted by freelance audio engineer and sound designer Steve Brown (National Public Radio, WBGO-FM, Institute of Audio Research), who will sample, chop, and remix classic fusion records utilizing the award-winning Pro Tools audio production software.

At 7 PM, return to Luna for an acoustic adventure as acclaimed alto saxophonist and bandleader Ed Palermo (Tony Bennett, James Brown, Lena Horne, The Tonight Show) will explore the timeless wisdom of Frank Zappa during the debut of his latest ensemble entitled EDDY’S CHEMISTRY SET.  Downbeat Magazine, National Public Radio, and The New Jersey Star Ledger all concur that the West Orange resident’s big band arrangements deliver a fresh perspective on Zappa’s most provocative compositions.  Luna patrons in the intimate 100-seat main stage will be captivated by the acoustic immediacy provided by electric violinist Katie Jacoby, guitarist Bruce McDaniel, saxophonist Cliff Lyons, saxophonist Barbara Cifelli, drummer Ray Marchica, bassist Paul Adamy, keyboardist Paul Kooshian, and pianist Bob Quaranta.

Afternoon events are free and each evening event is $20 for adults, $15 for students with ID.  For information on this festival and all other events and programs at Luna Stage, or to purchase tickets, visit the company website: www.lunastage.org. Luna Stage is located at 555 Valley Road, West Orange, NJ 07052. 973-395-5551. The theatre is handicapped accessible and assisted listening devices are available.
