Pixelpops! Outdoor Film Festival – October 2010
Newark – Williamsburg – Bushwick – Jersey City
Screenings each Wednesday in October at 7pm
Curators Jeanne Brasile and Hiroshi Kumagai invite you to join them each evening in October to view short art videos to be projected in outdoor locations throughout the New York metropolitan area. The videos will be projected onto buildings, overpasses and similar structures in order to draw attention to the surrounding urban environment. The screenings utilize unconventional locales to underscore the narrative content of the films, while simultaneously moving art outside the usual gallery environment. In this way, the curators wish to bring art to non-traditional audiences as well as incite interaction with incidental viewers from the general public. Attendees will be served popcorn and soft drinks at intermission between two 40 minutes sets.
The featured artists include; Melanie Beisswenger, Gianluca Bianchino, David Borawski, Aaron Bowles, Yvonne Buchanan, Janet Curley Cannon, Amanda Dandeneau, Julia de Jong, David Dunne, Anthony Elliott, Chris Garcia, Doron Golan, Shalom Gorewitz, Benjamin Heller, Kent Hugo, Jones and Roa, Yeon Jin Kim, Jae Youn Lee, Artur Magrot, Enrique Maitland, Rebecca Major, Pasquale Napolitano, Martijn Oostra, Dan Rule, Tara Raye Russo, Dana Sperry, Joya Angola Thompson, Jonathan Velardi, Jody Zellen and Biying Zhang.
The schedule is as follows; Wednesday October 6th at 7pm – Newark, New Jersey, October 13th – Williamsburg, October 20th – Bushwick, October 27th – Jersey City. Exact locations shall be announced 24 to 48 hours in advance of each screening.
