WESTFIELD STAMP SHOW – March 3, 2012

The Westfield Stamp Club will hold its annual stamp show on Saturday, March 3rd, in the Community Room of the Westfield Municipal Center, located at 425 East Broad Street, Westfield, NJ 07090. The show will be open from 10 AM until 4 PM. Admission and parking are free. This will be the 50th Annual Show the Club has held.

The show will include a four dealer bourse and the annual exhibit competition among club members. More than 600 pages of stamps and postal history items from around the world will be on display. The exhibits to be shown are the work of those who are new to the field as well as from those who have shown their work at the international level. The exhibits will be evaluated by American Philatelic Society accredited judges, Dr. Cheryl Ganz of Washington, DC, and Janet Klug of Pleasant Plain, OH. Show goers are invited to vote for the most popular exhibit.

The theme of the show will be the 75th anniversary of the Hindenburg disaster which took place at Lakehurst, New Jersey, on May 6, 1937. In keeping with the theme, Dr. Cheryl Ganz, the Curator of the National Postal Museum and world renowned Hindenburg scholar, will give a presentation titled " The Hindenburg: New Jersey's Iconic Airship", at 1 PM. Dr. Ganz will also display a section of her international award winning exhibit about the Hindenburg.

At 2 PM, Janet Klug, the Immediate Past President of the American Philatelic Society and a member of the Citizens Stamp Advisory Committee will give a presentation titled "Inside the USPS's Citizens Stamp Advisory Committee (CSAC)." Janet will discuss the process by which the Postal Service selects the subjects and designs for all United States stamps.

The U.S. Postal Service will operate a substation at the show and have a special show cancel available which will feature the Hindenburg. A limited quantity of specially produced cachet envelopes with a Hindenburg theme will also be available.
