ACAP Is launching an exciting, innovative program in TRAUMA AND RESILIENCE STUDIES (TRS) designed to increase clinical skills and provide training opportunities for those in professions beyond the usual mental health disciplines, as well as mental health professionals. ACAP's courses and conference are suitable for anyone working on the forefront with our communities' most vulnerable members:victims and trauma challenged individuals.

Journeys to Resilience
Mary Jo Codey,MA,LDTC,is the former First Lady ofNew Jersey,a gifted teacher,anda pioneering advocate for those whose lives have been impacted by overwhelming emotional experiences. She has pioneered mental health services both in New Jersey and nationally, especially related to transforming trauma to resilience for women facing post partum depression (PPD). She is on the governor's Task Force for MentalHealth,and lectures widely about her personal journey to resilience. Mrs. Codey campaigns for innovations in trauma research,and effective strategies for coping with the loss and pain associated with overwhelming experiences in everyday life. In 2005,she helped launch New Jersey's statewide "Speak Up When You're Down" consumer educationcampaign to support mothers suffering PPD.She was instrumentalin the passage of the "Mother's Law"(2006), which is the first law in the nation to require health care profession als to screen mothers for postpartum depression.Mrs. Codey campaigned in Washington for passage of the Melanie Blocker-Stokes MOTHERS Act,which was signed into law by President Obama as part of health insurance reform.
