On Sunday, February 13, 2011, from 10:00 AM to 12 noon, Temple B'nai Abraham will hold a “TBA Mitzvah Morning,” sponsored by the temple’s Membership Committee with the Social Action Committee, Sisterhood, Men’s Club, Prime Time, Parents’ Council & PTA. Join the members of the TBA congregational family as they participate together in a gratifying and rewarding morning of volunteering to create special packages for clients of Bridges Outreach, Inc in Summit, New Jersey. We will be assembling breakfast and toiletry bags for those in need in the neighboring communities served by Bridges Outreach.
Bridges began in 1988 with one suburban couple, Geoff and Ginger Worden. Today, Bridges’ outreach includes over 1,500 kind and caring volunteers delivering over 100,000 bagged brown lunches, 40,000 breakfast bags, literally tons of clothing and toiletries and other necessities each year. Since 1988, Bridges has not missed a weekly run into NYC, but in recognizing the need closer to home, Bridges expanded its operation in 1996 to Newark and in 2002 to Irvington. This first-time TBA event is free and open to the entire congregation and community. A continental breakfast will be served. Bring your entire family as there will be activities for children of all ages.
We ask that you consider donating one of each item listed to complete a toiletry kit. (Of course additional quantities of each item are most welcome!).The toiletry kits will contain the following items: (travel size only) soap, deodorant, lotion, shaving cream toothpaste, toothbrushes and lip balm.
