Location: The Ethical Culture Society of Essex County
516 Prospect St, Maplewood, NJ
When: May 18, 2011
Time: 7:00pm

Freelancers and the self-employed used to be able to get wonderful health insurance in N.J.  I know because I was one of the insured (dental and vision, too). Then came an early round of ‘reforms’ and that was the end of that. And things have only gotten worse. Many are being sidelined. Jobs w/ W2s are becoming a thing of the past. Freelancers are hired w/ no benefits (sometimes no pay). Part-time work. Multiple jobs. Health Care ‘reforms’ are contributing to the creation of an ominous morass of haves and have-nots all trying to negotiate a system which continues to morph.

Now the marketplace is responding, as it tends to do, with new approaches. ‘Discounted medical care plans’ and ‘voluntary benefits’ are a new financial interface w/ the medical establishment, still in its infancy. Do they hold out promise to the growing armies of disenfranchised workers?

Our speaker, Ciro J. Giuè, is an independent insurance & benefits specialist who specializes in advising the working uninsured and providing supplemental insurance & benefits coverage plans in all states. He will describe the overview and discuss the new medical discount plans that allow people some respite if they can’t afford medical insurance. It’s not a perfect world, but come on the 18th and find out what’s available.

Meeting open to members, prospective members and guests. Bring your business cards and a beverage of your choice to share.

Please do not park in the driveway.
