Registration: Parent/Child Classes at Adult School

The Adult School is enrolling for classes especially designed for families:

  • COMING UP FOR OXYGEN: Hands-On Learning About Circulation and Respiration.  This family workshop will explain how our heart works; then we shall dissect a real animal heart. Learn how we breathe and make a working model of the lungs. RICH COHEN is a science educator at Liberty Science Center and retired CHS biology teacher. For children in Grades 3 and up. Fee: $25 (adult and one child). It's been offered twice this fall: Wednesday, Oct. 14, and on Thursday, Nov. 18, 7-8 p.m., SOMS, room 102.
  • COOKING WITH KIDS. Cooking with kids is fun and easy. Join our experienced chef to prepare kid-friendly recipes and culinary skills. TSIPI KAPLAN, a graduate of the Institute of Culinary Education, will teach how to make chicken spring rolls. Recipes will be provided. For children in Grades 3 and up. Course: 0112. Fee: $35 (adult and one child; includes materials). Wednesday, Oct. 20, 7-9 p.m., SOMS, room 387.
  • I'M A SUPER HERO! Author and publisher GIOYA MCRAE will help you develop Super Hero stories. Form a super hero team and write a story highlighting your actual strengths and desired powers. Children will draw themselves as super heroes and stories will be shared. McRae is author of From Pen to Page and the founder of Mocha Mind Communications. For children in Grades K-3. Course: 0113. Fee: $25 (adult and one child). Saturday, Nov. 13,  10-11:30 a.m., CHS, room D108.
  • PARENT & CHILD SWIMMING ON SATURDAY. Enjoy working with your child on swimming skills with the help and supervision of our staff. For children in Grades K & above (child must be at least 42 inches tall). MELODY BUNDY, WSI, FA and CPR certified. Course: 0114 Fee: $50 (adult and one child). Adult must know how to swim. Eight Saturdays, Oct.2-Nov.20, 10-10:45 a.m., CHS Pool. Call the Adult School to register additional children at $20 each.

  • Melt and Pour Soapmaking is open to kids 12 and up.
  • Vegetarian Cooking for Teens is open to kids ages 11 and up.
  • Juggling is open to all -- kids, Grades 4 & 5, Teens and Adults.  
  • It's Sew Crafty for ages 14 and up.
  • Organizational Skills for Middle School Students.
  • Organizational Skills for Elementary School Students.
  • Prepare for the SAT.
