Time: 9:30am–6:00pm
The Montclair African American Heritage Committee’s 22nd annual event is Saturday, June 4, 2011. The Committee is celebrating the theme of Kuumba (Creativity) this year: to do always as much as we can, in the way we can, in order to leave our community more beautiful and beneficial than we inherited it. It means thinking of ways to make our community better. The committee's symbol this year is Nkyinkyim, symbolic of toughness and the ability to face difficulties.
BWM will participate in the parade and have a vendor table at the Festival. The parade route will begin at Glenfield Park, proceeding west on Maple Avenue to Woodland Avenue to Willowdale Avenue to Washington Avenue to Orange Road—left around the bend of Orange Road to Cedar Avenue. The festival will take place at Nishuane Park on Cedar Avenue and High Street. Please plan to check-in at 9 a.m. Look for the REGISTRATION sign in the Glenfield Park.
