When: October 11, 2010
Time: 7:00am–7:00pm

Join this 34-mile Lenape Trail hike from the Millburn Train Station through South Mountain Reservation and Eagle Rock Reservation, through Montclair and on to Newark Penn Station. The event will show support for the revitalization of this unique nature-to-urban trail, as well as for Liberty Water Gap Trail, a proposed 130-mile trail across the entire state of New Jersey. The hike is free, but everyone is encouraged to register so their support will be counted. For free registration, go to http://freewalkers.org/events/the-lenape34-columbus-day-walk

This walk is a total of 34 miles and going across a marked trail called the "Lenape Trail." There are alternatives for shorter segments, so walkers do not have to go the entire distance. Walkers also have the support of two train lines for mass transportation both to and from several points along the way.  There are also several busses runnng in the area.

The name "Lenape" suggests honoring the Native American ancestors of our area on a day when we also honor the discovery of America. So the organizers have dubbed this the "Origins Walk."
