The Sanctuary Concerts presents The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, multiple Grammy-winning pioneers of alt-country and Americana music.
Their many hit songs include their version of Jerry Jeff Walker's "Mr. Bojangles," “Dance Little Jean,” "Workin' Man", "Long Hard Road", “Baby's Got A Hold On Me” and “Fishin' in the Dark.” They are best known, however, for their pioneering alt-country album "Will The Circle Be Unbroken," which celebrated the legacy of Americana music and featured Earl Scruggs, Doc Watson, Merle Travis, Roy Acuff and Mother Maybelle Carter. That multi-platinum album is one of only fifty recordings to be honored and preserved by the Library of Congress. The band made two more Circle albums, winning multiple Grammy awards and featuring Johnny Cash, EmmyLou Harris, Chet Atkins, Bruce Hornsby, John Hiatt, and Roseanne Cash.
Special guest David Massengill, a celebrated member of the Greenwich Village songwriting community that spawned Suzanne Vega and Julie Gold, accompanies his colorfully epic story-songs on the Appalachian Dulcimer.
As always, admission includes desserts, coffee, and beverages at intermission
